  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Customer -- Easily understandable account of a great mathematics story : I would recommend this book primarily for people interested in mathematics or in the history of science. The ideas involved in eventually finding the proof for the four color theorem are presented in a non-technical way and the author does not suppose previous math knowledge, therefore I think anyone who enjoys solving puzzles will delight in the development of the proof. The history of the problem goes back more than a century, which gives the author the opportunity to present a few parantheses about the lives of the scientists involved and peculiarities of the scientific life of their time.
